Welcome to Bay’r, a realm of endless green meadows, fertile fields and ancient forests where the boundary between nature and magic has almost completely disappeared.
At the heart of the kingdom lies Aeloria, home of the Lír’vyn and a place where community, spirituality and a deep connection to the living world shape everyday life.
Yet Bay’r is far more than a peaceful land of agriculture. With the mysterious Sacred Wylds, the memory-bearing river Mir’valis and a culture that understands relationships themselves as part of the natural cycle, the kingdom is one of the most spiritually significant places in Ananthara.
The Role of Bay’r in Ananthara
Bay’r is considered the natural heart of Ananthara. While other kingdoms draw their strength from technology, trade or magical research, Bay’r’s power lies in its extraordinary connection to the living world.
Its fertile lands provide large parts of Ananthara with food, medicinal herbs, timber, leather and rare plants. Some of these plants possess not only healing properties but magical ones as well, making Bay’r an important part of the trade between the kingdoms.
But the true significance of the land reaches far deeper.
The Lír’vyn, who call Bay’r home, do not see nature as a resource but as a living cycle of which they themselves are a part. Growth, death, memory and rebirth are inseparably connected within their worldview.
This belief shapes their magic just as strongly as their rituals, traditions and relationships.
Politically, Bay’r also holds a unique position. Most Lír’vyn deliberately remain outside the great struggles for power within Ananthara. They protect their land and communities and offer help in times of need, yet expect visitors to respect their customs and the natural world around them.

Architecture & Cityscape
Aeloria is unlike the great metropolises of the other kingdoms. Rather than pushing nature aside, the city has been built directly into it.
Homes made of wood, clay, plant fibres and natural stone formations blend almost seamlessly into their surroundings. Some dwellings rest between enormous tree roots, others are hidden within caves or rise as open platforms among the treetops.
The different Lír’vyn tribes inhabit their own areas, and their architecture reflects both their way of life and their connection to the animals and environments around them.

At the heart of the city stands the Sacred Tree, the most important spiritual site in Bay’r.
It is regarded as a symbol of Faon’lin, the goddess of nature and life, and serves as the centre of countless ceremonies.
Around its roots grow the mysterious blossoms known among the Lír’vyn as the Light of the Heart.

The river Mir’valis flows through Aeloria.
Its waters are said to absorb emotions, impressions and memories.
During full moon nights, these memories can manifest above the river as shimmering figures and scenes.
Some reveal fragments of long-forgotten history.
Others belong to individual people and their families.

Aeloria is also a gathering place for the different tribes of the Lír’vyn.
Their territories vary greatly and reflect their individual relationships with nature.
Hunters and protectors live differently from the more secretive shadow walkers, while water-bound Lír’vyn settle closer to the Mir’valis and the Aetheri favour elevated places among the treetops.
Despite these differences, the tribes form one greater community, even if instinct, territorial behaviour and opposing traditions occasionally create tension between them.

Near Bay’r lie the Sacred Wylds, one of the oldest and most mysterious places in Ananthara.
Legends claim that Faon’lin once touched the world here and that the first forests were born from that moment.
Some stories even describe the Sacred Wylds as the birthplace of the first beings of Ananthara.
Yet the forest is also considered dangerous.
Travellers speak of voices whispering between the trees, shadows following them through the undergrowth and a strange magic capable of confronting visitors with their deepest fears and truths they would rather keep hidden.
The Lír’vyn are the people of Bay’r and possess both humanoid and animal traits.
Pointed or movable ears, luminous eyes, fur, tails and other animal characteristics are common. How strongly these features appear differs from person to person and often from tribe to tribe.
Yet their animal traits alone do not define their culture.

The Lír’vyn place great importance on community, instinct and living in harmony with nature. Many of their traditions revolve around the belief that every living being belongs to a greater cycle.
Even death is not considered an absolute end.
According to their beliefs, the deceased return to the forest, the plants, the animals and the memories of those who remain, becoming part of the living world once again.
Among the Lír’vyn are several different tribes: the strong and loyal Tharil, the mysterious Nathar, the freedom-loving Lyr, the sky-bound Aetheri, the water-connected Syl’varin, and the rare Elunari, who are said to possess an especially powerful connection to Faon’lin’s essence.
Culture and Religion
The faith of Bay’r is deeply connected to Faon’lin, the spirits of nature and the eternal cycle of life.
Shamans act as spiritual intermediaries between the people, nature and their ancestors. They guide rituals, interpret signs found within water and plants and help restore balance between an individual and the world surrounding them.
Many sacred practices do not take place inside temples.
The forest itself can become a sanctuary.
A river can preserve memories.
A tree can become the spiritual heart of an entire people.
Lir’fael’thaen – The Blooming of the Bonded
One of the most important celebrations in Bay’r is Lir’fael’thaen, meaning The Blooming of the Bonded. Across several stages of celebration, the different clans gather in Aeloria to mark the transition from winter into spring.
Together they eat, dance and sing while rituals accompany the farewell to the old cycle and the beginning of the new. One particularly important ceremony takes place beneath the Sacred Tree.
Wishes, gratitude and things that should be left behind are symbolically entrusted to small lights or fireflies, which then carry these messages out into the world.
The Light of the Heart
One of Bay’r’s most remarkable traditions begins at birth. Newborn children receive a bud of the Light of the Heart, which forms a connection with their life energy.
If that person later finds a love that is truly returned, the bud begins to glow and opens into a magical flower. The blossoms of two lovers react to one another and can even produce a soft, melodic humming sound when their connection is strong.
After their union, the flowers are planted together within the couple’s home. There, they become a living symbol of their bond.
The Memory Nights of Mir’valis
The ancestors also hold an important place within the culture of Bay’r. When the full moon shines across the Mir’valis, memories of past lives and forgotten moments can appear upon its surface.
During these nights, the inhabitants gather by the river to honour the dead. Shamans may attempt to communicate with ancestors while families share stories and preserve the memories of those who came before them. In Bay’r, death is therefore not seen merely as an ending, but as a return to the greater cycle of life.

Between the Lír’vyn, the Mir’valis and the Sacred Wylds, Bay’r preserves some of the oldest bonds between nature, magic and the origins of Ananthara itself.
